Personally, I think utilizing WordPress for the purposes of a class blog is perfect. Seeing as WordPress is pretty intuitive to use (at least in my experience as an undergraduate, though, it has been a while since I’ve played around with the site), it should offer a great platform for creating, sharing, and exchanging thoughts and ideas.
As for what I would like to discuss/what question will guide most of my discussions, this is somewhat hard to say, as, personally, there is a lot that I would like to cover. However, based on the preliminary conversations with my students this semester, a large majority noted that their past online courses felt fatiguing due to the amount of work that was assigned. This has currently led me to think about the following: how can we “lessen the burden” of coursework throughout online instruction without hampering/cutting important content?
Finding that “happy medium” of an acceptable amount of coursework that doesn’t feel overwhelming, while simultaneously assigning meaningful, worthwhile content seems to be an important question to find the answer to. Although we’ve read texts that vaguely touch upon this predicament, I have yet to find anything that specifically mentions ways to remedy this issue, as a result, I look forward to finding and discussing this scholarship in the future!
