Hi All,
Just wanted to list a few ideas I had for zoom lesson plans this semester to engage students. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Love sharing lesson plan ideas and finding new methods on how to educate students in this virtual space.
- Play jeopardy after each unit (this is a great way to spotlight key concepts in each unit and have students “lock in” what they have learned). You can also make this an extra credit option, such as winner gets five points on the next homework or assignment.
- I used a word cloud program a few weeks back where students were broken down into groups (I like to keep it to 2-3 per breakout room) and they had to create a word cloud based on genre. I know last semester many students struggled with the concept of genre, so I thought this activity would be a creative way to help them understand. My students really gravitated to this lesson and when we came back as a group they were excited to share.
- For Unit 1 I had students create a mock resume. This was another zoom breakout activity and students were able to play around with the different styles and concepts. Afterwards we came together as a class to review them. This is especially helpful for students who have never conducted a resume before.
